Confidentiality and Privacy Policy

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist.
The therapist cannot disclose client information without her/his written permission.

Exceptions include:

  • Child or elder abuse. The therapist is required by law to report abuse to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • Threat of serious bodily harm to another person(s). The therapist may have a duty to report the threat to police and the intended victim(s).
  • Intent to harm self. The therapist will make every effort to enlist the client’s cooperation in ensuring his/her safety. The therapist may need to take further measures without the client’s permission that are provided by law to ensure client safety.
